Corporate servers
Selecting a suitable corporate server is crucial for future management of the whole IT infrastructure. An inappropriately chosen server may result in considerable financial management costs in the future, both in terms of software and hardware.
software
We aim to provide our customers with server solutions requiring as little as possible in terms of future management while offering as much as possible in terms of stability of services. Our server solutions are Linux-based. The complexity of the primary installation is compensated by the fact that it is a GPL license product which is supplied free of charge. We are able to offer anything that a customer may require on this platform. Below are listed the most commonly provided services:
- File sharing using CIFS or NFS protocol and management of domain server for stations and MS Windows.
- Emails.E-mailing is dealt with by a mail server checking all incoming mail for viruses, spam and hazardous attachments. The spam filter sort messages based on their content (spamassassin). Blacklisting and greylisting function may be activated as well in order to improve detection of undesired mail.
Client access to the e-mail box is done through IMAP4 and POP3 protocols or via web interface. All e-mail messages are stored on server enabling the user to access their mailbox both from corporate network and from home. - Database services may be supplied under a broad range of SQL servers. E.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL,Firebird, Oracle and others.
- Web services are powered by Apache web server capable of managing corporate web presentations as well as local intranet applications.
- Network services. Every server includes essential services for comfortable operation of server. This could be dhcp server for IP address management for all devices, DNS server for name entries, NTP server for unified synchronization of time on all stations, etc.
- VPN services. If so required by client a VPN server can be launched, both to connect from home to corporate network and to interconnect several branches into one major network. For more information on VPN click here.
hardware
Server solution is closely related to quality of the server’s hardware equipment. Our servers are supplied in configurations minimizing the risk of hardware failure. The actual server solution is offered either as a 19" rackmnount assembly (1U, 2U or 4U) or as a common miditower.
- Disc array is a space to store all corporate data. In order to secure operation of the server even in case of a hard disc failure, the disc array is composed in RAID 1, RAID 5 or LVM. Individual discs of the disc array are connected according to expected load via SAS (Serial Attached SCSI),SATA2 (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) or Ultra320 SCSI bus.
- Data back-up. Utilization of back-up technology is based on size of the disc array on the server and on daily back-up size. We offer back-up using either external hard discs connected via USB2 interface or 100/1000Mbit ethernet. We recommend an independent back-up server able to handle all data including required history to be used to back-up the largest disc arrays.
- Power supply back-up. In case the server room or the data center, where the server is to be located, does not have a sufficient power supply back-up, we can design and to supply required UPS back-up sources to overcome a contingent failure and correct shutdown of the server.
If so required by the customer, the server may be built on MS Windows, Solaris or BSD platforms.
